Clubs & Activities

Red Bug Elementary is excited to have many wonderful opportunities for students to be involved both inside and outside of the classroom. Below is information about several of our clubs. For more information, please email the club sponsor or call the office.

Runner's Club

Sponsored by: Mrs. Segrest
Grades: All grades welcome
Meets:

  • Monday, Tuesday and Thursday mornings

  • 7:30 am -7:50 am

Runner's Club members are expected to participate in the cross country races held at various elementary schools on Saturday mornings. Dates and details will be handed out at practice. Proof of health insurance is required to start practice.

Fee: Runner's Club uniform T-Shirt will be available for purchase


Red Bug Weeders

Sponsored by: Mrs. Gainer

Grades: 1st through 5th
Meets : First Thursday of each month

Fee: There is no fee


Art Club

Sponsored by: Mrs. Palumbo
Grades: 4th & 5th with a C average or better.
Meets:

  • Student may choose to meet in ONE of the two Art Club groups:

  • Group 1 - Mondays 2:15-3:30

  • Group 2 - Thursdays 2:15-3:30

Fee: $5 to cover materials

LIMITED TO 16 MEMBERS PER GROUP
Must complete application and return in person to Mrs. Palumbo.


Chorus

Sponsored by: Dr. Cardarelli
Grades: 4th & 5th with a C average or better.
Meets: Tuesday and Thursday 2:15-3:15
Fee: $7 to cover materials and uniform

Must complete application and return to Dr. Cardarelli


Robotics

Sponsored by: Mrs. Allen
Grades: 5th grade, Each 5th grade homeroom class will have the opportunity to apply for membership in the Robotics Club. The club will have 6 sessions throughout the year serving each of the homeroom classes.
Meets: Monday 2:15-3:45, dates vary by class
Fee: There is no fee to be in the Robotics Club


News Crew

Sponsored by: Mrs. Allen
Grades: 5th grade, Each 5th grade homeroom class will have the opportunity to apply for membership in the News Crew. The club will have 6 sessions throughout the year serving each of the homeroom classes.
Meets: Daily, Students MUST arrive by 7:30 am
Fee: There is no fee to be in the News Crew.


Safety Patrols

Sponsored by: Mrs. Williams & Mrs. Mammino
Grades: 5th grade students with a C average or better, who have no referrals, and less than 4 tardies or absences.
Meets: Patrols are on duty every school day from 7:30-7:50 am, and 2:05-2:20 pm
Fee: There is no fee to be a Safety Patrol.


Odyssey of the Mind

Sponsored by: Mrs. Baldwin
Grades: K - 5
Odyssey of the Mind team members are selected from applicants, with priority given to former participants and to students recommended by staff.

Meets: Monday 2:20-3:45; September to May


Math Club

Sponsored by: Mrs. Baldwin
Grade: 5th grade PRIMES math students
Meets: Thursday 2:20-3:30
2 Sessions:

  • October - December

  • March - May
